Welcome to the September issue of the GeM eNewsletter.  We hope you all had a lovely summer and are looking forward to getting back in to the swing of things.

This month we have exciting news about Request for Quote, new suppliers and the GeM webservice.

The GeM team will also be at the COUP conference next week and look forward to seeing many of you.  We also have a few competitions and the chance to win prizes so read on to find out more.

Drive compliance and savings using GeM’s Request for Quote tool

There are now over 65 institutions using GeM's Request for Quote (RFQ) tool with a huge increase in the value and number of orders being placed with suppliers

Unlike some of the other RFQ tools available, GeM is EU compliant and fully auditable ensuring the best prices on pre-approved contracted suppliers.  Buyers can be safe in the knowledge that by using the GeM RFQ tool they are getting the best prices and terms and conditions on suppliers who have already gone through a rigorous consortia tender process.

You can find out more about the benefits GeM's RFQ tool will offer your institution here
Purchase from the ITRAP and NEPA agreements on GeM

Insight Direct, who are on the ITRAP and the Software License Resellers – ITS4001-SU agreement are now live the GeM eMarketplace and will be available for NEPA soon.  This means your institutional buyers can now purchase on contract, directly from these agreements in GeM’s secure, fully auditable eMarketplace.

Visit us at COUP on stand 11

The GeM team will be at COUP 2013 and we are looking forward to seeing you at stand 11.

Over the two days we will be running a mini competition where you could be in for the chance to win a bottle of champagne.   There are two options for entering:

1)  Visit us at stand number 11 to pick up your 'GeM card' then visit GeM approved suppliers for a stamp.  Once you have six stamps, return your completed card to the GeM stand to be entered into a prize draw to win a bottle of Champagne.  There is also a bonus prize for anyone who completes a 'GeM card'.

2) Join in our GeM twitter competition using #GEM@COUP.  We will be tweeting questions throughout the conference.  For the person who tweets the most right answers a bottle of champagne awaits.

We look forward to seeing you at stand 11!

The University of Huddersfield is now using the GEM/@UK eMarketplace as its primary supplier facing purchase to pay system.

We believe that this system offers the best method of efficiency for both the University and for its suppliers and where possible would like to place all orders through this method.

The University encourages all contracted suppliers to make themselves available on this marketplace and intends making any awards of mini-tenders or local tenders having a high weighting on criteria surrounding this.

Did you know....

You are able to display all contracts available to your institution on GeM within your own institutions portal.

By embedding local and and national framework data and links into your own corporate portal, you are able to control who can see the information and how it is displayed all within your own institution branding. Many institutions and colleges including Southampton University and Nottingham University are using GeM to store their local contract data and making use of the direct data feed to display a holistic view of it within their own user environments. Any changes made in GeM are instantly reflected in the institution portals and templates for embedding the data in your portal are available.
