Welcome to the December issue of the GeM eNewsletter
This year we have seen a dramatic increase in GeM’s use across the sector as institutions look to use the system to increase their collaborative procurement to meet the Diamond Report recommendations. We have seen £750,000 spent through GeM’s request for quote feature and a further £1.3 million through the GeM eMarketplace. All institutions across the sector are now actively using the system and we are seeing steady and increasing growth in those institutions purchasing directly from consortia negotiated contracts through GeM. As we look to 2014, we look forward to further growth as GeM embeds in to the sector further. I hope that many of you are now looking at GeM as an option for the future as we all continue to make further efficiencies over the coming months.

GeM’s Request for Quote (RFQ) system provides you with easy to use, fully auditable request for quote functionality making it even easier for you to get the goods and services you want at an even better price while still purchasing on contract. With 370 suppliers now set up for you to request quotes from, GeM’s inbuilt RFQ ensures that you are able to get the best value for money on your everyday purchases. You can find out more about completing an RFQ and which other suppliers set up for RFQ on the GeM website. @UK becomes cloudBuy Our technical provider, @UK, has recently changed it’s name to CloudBuy. This name change reflects the new global focus which will see CloudBuy rolling out it’s eCommerce marketplace to Asia Pacific. Service in the UK will be unaffected and CloudBuy will continue the high level of support for GeM that we have seen over the last two years.
The GeM supplier adoption team office will be closed from Friday 20th December until Thursday 2nd January. During this time, we will be unable to respond to enquiries in relation to GeM. We will respond promptly when we reopen on the 2nd January. The GeM supplier adoption team and cloudBuy will be closed over the same period. However, should you have any urgent technical queries, you can contact cloudBuy by either telephoning 0118 963 7052 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
We wish you all a happy holiday and a wonderful new year
