Request for Quote just got bigger

We are very pleased to announce that the request for quote function is now even better.  Since the launch of request for quote in 2012, many institutions have used this intuitive quote request function to get quotes from contracted suppliers for a particular item(s).  We have now enhanced this function to include the option to carry out an open request for quote.

An open request for quote allows you to view responses to a request at any point in the process.  This enhancement will further help you get the best price on the goods and services that you want to buy when you want to buy them.  For those institutions that use the eMarketplace, the winning quote can easily be transferred into your basket to purchase with your pCard.

Institutions who use request for quote have noted the additional savings and ease of use it provides.  Emma Griffin, Technical Officer at University of the West of England, found that she received a ‘substantial saving’ for her department when purchasing new lab equipment using GeM’s request for quote feature.

Follow this short user guide to find out how to use this new request for quote feature.

GeM is set up to enable users to obtain EU compliant quotes from suppliers on framework agreements. Institutions should ensure users are trained to use the system in a way that fits your procurement policies.

If you have do have any queries on carrying out request for quotes through GeM please contact the team on 02920 870333 or support@gem.ac.uk
